The fourth annual charity golf tournament at Nelson Golf Club brought together 116 golfers to support the new Hato Hone St John Ambulance Hub in Richmond. Under perfect skies overlooking Tasman Bay, participants enjoyed 18 holes of Ambrose-style play while raising an impressive $54,956.

“Every swing helped us support a Hub that will save lives in our region,” said Andrew Smith, Nelson Findex Managing Partner. The tournament began with an ambulance siren signaling the shotgun start, setting the tone for a day focused on community impact.

The course featured BBQ stations, refreshments, and a lively “Party Hole” with burgers and music hosted by Tax Management New Zealand. Bowater Motor Group sponsored a Hole-in-One contest offering a $40,000 car prize, though no one managed to claim it.

Matt Rama of TMNZ remarked, “It was awesome to see the energy and community spirit in action, especially knowing it helped fund life-saving services.”

The Richmond ambulance hub will include four ambulances, six rest areas, and a public training facility. According to Debbie Zwies from St John, “The Nelson Tasman region is growing, and so are the demands on our ambulance services. That’s why we’re raising funds for this purpose-built hub.”

With 86% of their funding coming from government sources, St John relies on community support to bridge the gap. Since 2018, the Findex Community Fund has contributed over $4.1 million to various charities, with this golf day continuing their tradition of community support.
