Next year, the LPGA golf circuit will feature a second Kiwi player.
Fiona Xu of Auckland has qualified on the ‘Road to the LPGA’ Epson Tour.
In 2025, she will be reunited with Hall of Fame teammate Lydia Ko.
The 20-year-old placed eighth at the end of the 2024 Epson Tour, with the top fifteen earning spots on the LPGA Tour.
At the Copper Rock Championship in May, Xu secured her maiden professional victory with a 54-hole score of 194 (-22), breaking the previous record.
In 2024, she placed in the top five twice again, earning about $150,000 in revenue.
To date, Xu has made 17 starts and out of those made 13 cuts.
“I’m super excited. You know, it’s been my goal to finish top ten and make it to LPGA next year. So I’m really happy,” Xu told the LPGA.
World number three, Lydia Ko, meanwhile is scheduled to return to action next week at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea. Ko has been in magnificent form recently winning Olympic gold, the British Open and just a couple of weeks ago the Queen City Championship in Ohio.
