The Manawatu Golf Club is a place that welcomes members and guests to enjoy the best cafe in Manawatu and has an Event Centre that hosts conferences, corporate days, weddings, and a range of celebrations from birthdays to fundraising dinners. We also have a pretty special golf course; the oldest golf course in NZ and also one of the best!
The main focus of this role is in Event Management. The Events, Marketing and Office Manager takes the lead in selling, coordinating and delivering the perfect event for our valued members and guests.The perfect person will lead our clubs marketing and communications to ensure our community knows what we can deliver. This includes supporting the proshop, the cafe, the bar and the members in promoting our club and celebrating our successes.
This is a varied and rewarding role that supports the ongoing success of Manawatu Golf Club by coordinating events, driving marketing activity, maintaining smooth office operations, and contributing to an excellent member and visitor experience.
The Events, Marketing & Office (EMO) Manager is part of a strong Admin team, they work closely with, and support the Finance and Admin Manager, and the Membership Manager, assists The EMO Manager takes responsibility for Health & Safety sKey Responsibilities
1. Events & Club Operations
· Coordinate and deliver a range of events including weddings, corporate functions, birthdays, member gatherings, and special dinners.
· Respond to event enquiries, conduct site visits, and guide clients through the planning process.
· Manage event logistics, stock ordering, cost tracking, and liaison with kitchen, café and grounds teams.
· Provide on-site support and presence during key events, including some weekends or evenings.
· Support the successful delivery of Club-hosted tournaments and golf events.
2. Marketing & Promotion
· Promote the Club and its offerings through a range of marketing channels including digital, social, and local media.
· Manage and grow social media engagement across platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram).
· Maintain and update the Club’s website with fresh, relevant content.
· Provide café and event content for regular member newsletters and event communications via email platforms.
· Develop relationships with local businesses, sponsors and promotional partners.
3. Office & Administration
· Ensure the Club office runs efficiently, including supplies, systems, and day-to-day communication.
· Maintain event and booking systems, assist with invoicing and internal reporting.
· Provide administrative support to the General Manager and other senior staff as needed.
· Coordinate contractors and service providers to ensure timely delivery and compliance.
4. Health & Safety
· Support the implementation and administration of Health & Safety systems and documentation.
· Maintain incident records, contractor files, and hazard registers.
· Help foster a proactive safety culture within the Club environment.
5. Membership Support
· Provide administrative support to the Membership Manager.
· Assist with responding to member and new member enquiries in person, by phone or email.
· Support the onboarding of new members with welcome materials and information.
· Help maintain a warm, welcoming front-of-house presence.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
· 3+ years’ experience in events, marketing, or hospitality/business administration.
· Experience with event coordination, digital marketing, and office systems.
· Confident using social media, newsletters, and website platforms.
· Experience working across teams and handling multiple priorities.
Skills & Attributes
· Friendly, professional, and confident communicator.
· Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
· Able to take initiative and work independently when required.
· Team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude.
· Comfortable working occasional evenings or weekends for key events.
· Committed to upholding the values and reputation of Manawatu Golf Club.
Additional Information
· Hours: 30–32 hours per week, possibly Tue-Fri, Flexibility is key.
· Some weekend or evening hours will be required for event hosting.
· Pay Range: $28–$34 per hour depending on skills and experience.
· A current driver’s licence is required.
· Duty Manager Certification (or a willingness to get) is beneficial.
