A fire in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges has destroyed Gisbourne Golf Club’ clubhouse and a local RSL sub-branch.
At 2.25 am on Tuesday morning, about 17 units of the Country Fire Authority (CFA) were dispatched to the Gisborne Golf Club on Daly Street in response to a fire.
The Gisborne RSL Sub Branch, which meets in the clubhouse, called the incident “devastating” one week prior to ANZAC Day.
Crews had to work for about two hours before they could declare the clubhouse fire under control.
“The community is experiencing a sad day,” the Gisborne RSL Sub Branch stated.
The Gisborne RSL Sub Branch was housed at the Gisborne Golf Club. Before ANZAC Day, we as RSLs lost everything we owned there.
