The Bears Home Project Management is delivering a world class golf course and associated facilities at Muriwai Downs near Muriwai Beach. This 19-hole golf course has been designed by American golf course architect Kyle Phillips, with an architecturally designed clubhouse. The course is being built to the highest standards and sits amongst strong natural features on the site such as a deep native forest gullies, wetlands, and natural waterfalls. Once open, the blend of golf course conditioning, playability, and service will place the golf experience among the best in New Zealand.
The Greenkeeper will support the development of new playing areas and the daily upkeep of the golf course turf and surrounding landscapes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for hands-on work in a scenic outdoor environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the grow-in, maintenance, renovation, and construction of turf surfaces and landscaped areas.
- Perform essential tasks, including mowing, aeration, rolling, top dressing, irrigation, and moisture management, as well as planting and caring for trees and shrubs.
- Safely operate and maintain all maintenance equipment.
- Apply fertilisers and pesticides with the required Growsafe license as directed, and keep accurate records of applications.
- Supervise and train less experienced team members, including Seasonal staff, Groundspersons, and Apprentices.
- Help to ensure the golf course maintenance facility is kept clean, organized, and safe.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Work rostered weekend shifts and scheduled overtime to support golf course upkeep.
- Adhere to workplace health, safety, and environmental policies and standards.
- Participate in staff training and development, making the most of educational opportunities.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in greenkeeping, turf management, or a similar role.
- Growsafe certification, or willingness to obtain it (employer-supported).
- Proficiency in operating maintenance equipment and performing irrigation tasks.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
