One of the most talented young golfers in Australia had to be rushed to the hospital following a horrifying injury he sustained on the Batemans Bay, New South Wales, course.

Jeff Guan, who became professional late last year after an incredible junior career, was hit in the eye by a misdirected shot on Friday while playing in a NSW Open regional qualifier at Catalina Club on the south coast of NSW.

The Sydney resident, 20, is said to have had several fractures and faces the possibility of lifelong vision loss as a result of the bizarre incident.

A joint statement outlining the terrible situation was made on Saturday by Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia.

It said, “NSW professional Jeffrey Guan was struck by a golf ball during a pro-am event at Club Catalina yesterday and was taken to a hospital in Canberra.”
