The upcoming championship golf course in Arrowtown is poised to garner global attention.
The most sought-after design firm in the world, Hanse Golf Design, based in the US, has teamed up with New Zealand golf legend Greg Turner to create an 18-hole course at Hogan Gully that is scheduled to open in 2028.

On 158.8 hectares off Hogans Gully Rd., the course is being developed by the family of Queenstown real estate and tourist heavyweight Sir John Davies.

The course, which has not yet been given a formal name, is expected to be the US company’s first joint venture and its first project in New Zealand.

Gil Hanse started Hanse Golf Design in 1993, and the company is well-known for its large-scale golf projects worldwide, such as the 2016 Olympic course in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Seamsong Black in Florida; and Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness, Scotland.

It has produced 29 courses globally thus far. Eight have been renovated, including the Royal Sydney Golf Club, which was and 44 have been restored; three more, omitting Hogan Gully, are in the planning phases.
