The 11th annual World Golf Awards has taken place in Madeira, and New Zealand and one of New Zealand’s finest courses walking away as winners.
The big win for the night belonged to Millbrook Resort, who was awarded World Golf Awards Oceania’s Best Golf Hotel. As well as New Zealand which picked up the Oceania’s Best Golf Destination.
This year’s edition of World Golf Awards marked a global gathering of golf industry leaders, with pioneers and key figures travelling from across the world to attend. The prize-giving ceremony at Savoy Palace, marked the climax of a two-day golf itinerary sampling the best of Madeira’s golf courses.
The New Zealand Best Golf Course 2024 was awarded to Queenstown Golf Club.
The club said in a social post about the news: “We are incredibly proud that our team have been recognised in the World Golf Awards for 2024 as New Zealand’s Best Golf Course. This award reflects the experience of our visitors from ‘car park’ to ‘car park’ who have considered our course, our location and, most importantly, their interactions with our team of staff who promote us every day supported by our volunteers who just turn up and make things shine!”

Portugal Impresses
There was plenty of stiff competition and shows the quality that New Zealand offers in a competitive global space to be recognised as a destination of choice.
Portugal came out a big winner picking up World’s Best Golf Destination 2024 and Terras da Comporta (Portugal) winning World’s Best Golf Course.
Yas Acres Golf & Country Club (UAE) won World’s Best 9 Hole Golf Course while Heritage Golf Club – La Réserve Golf Links (Mauritius) was awarded the World’s Best New Golf Course.
The results follow a year-long search for the world’s favourite golf tourism and hospitality brands. Votes were cast by golf industry professionals, the media and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.
