
The opportunity:
This role is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of participation growth in the Tairawhiti region. The role, based in the Tairawhiti region, will support golf clubs, build relationships with stakeholders and lead the delivery of participation initiatives.
What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Participation Manager – North Island, the Participation Coordinator will lead the implementation of existing Golf New Zealand participation initiatives and programmes and support the development of other initiatives to increase the number of people playing golf. This position requires an energetic and skilled individual who can lead others to achieve the outcomes of the role.
Specifically, you will:
- Work in close partnership with golf clubs, golf facilities and coaching professionals to provide quality introduction and development programmes at schools, in communities, and in golf clubs that drive increased participation and club membership.
- Deliver regional participation initiatives with a focus on Māori, young people, women and girls, All Abilities and the casual player across all clubs in the region.
- Support the effective connection between the Golf New Zealand team, Tairawhiti Golf representatives and golf clubs and facilities throughout the region on participation matters.
- Leverage the staging of golf events in the Tairawhiti region for participation benefits.
- Build strong relationships with, and provide support to golf clubs, facilities, external stakeholders and Golf NZ partners in the district on their governance, club and/or facility management, Golf NZ programmes and initiatives, and general operations.
- Develop and manage the district budget and business plan in conjunction with the relevant Golf New Zealand staff and Tairawhiti Golf board.
- Support the development of regional funding proposals and applications.
What you will bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable – Coaching, Sport & Recreation, Physical Education.
- A level of Golf IQ; particularly in the areas of participant programme development and implementation is desirable, or experience in the sport and recreation sector in leading the delivery of participation programmes.
- Ability to manage time well and stay on task while working independently.
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Is energetic, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and considerate.
