Tony Finau has pulled out of this week’s Hero World Challenge on the PGA Tour, amplifying speculation about his rumored connection to LIV Golf. The six-time PGA Tour winner was originally slated to compete in the prestigious event hosted by Tiger Woods, which features 20 of the Tour’s top players at Albany Golf Course.
Finau’s withdrawal during tournament week saw him replaced by European Ryder Cup star Sepp Straka. His decision has reignited chatter about his potential ties to the LIV Golf circuit, where his name frequently comes up in transfer rumors.
Tony Finau has emerged as a potential target for LIV Golf after the Saudi-backed league opened its offseason transfer window last month. Speculation grew when LIV franchise Ripper GC engaged with a tweet proposing Finau as a valuable addition to Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team, which includes Tyrrell Hatton and Caleb Surratt. This discussion follows Kieran Vincent’s departure from the team after his relegation in September.
