Position Title: Trainee Professional
Reports To: Golf Operations Manager
Position Summary:
The Trainee Professional should have a friendly and helpful attitude always as you would be responsible for assisting members, visitors at the golf course. Key responsibilities include Golf Shop and Sprig Bar day-to-day operations, assisting with merchandise & bar sales, processing member accounts, receiving and display of retail goods, assisting and running coaching programs (including Juniors), performing club repairs.
Additionally responsible for maintaining the driving range, golf cart sheds, and the entire work area so it is always clean and neat.
Trainee Professional – Full Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greeting and interacting with guests, providing information, and assisting them as required.
- Operate the Golf Clubs key operating systems, including Dotgolf, Kounta and Vend
- Provide a knowledgeable retail environment and sell the golf shops equipment and services to members and visitors alike
- Provide directions to golfers to golf-related areas.
- Assist golfers with their carts and equipment.
- Check in members and Visitors, scorecard distribution.
- Remove golf carts from the storage area and stage for play.
- Prepare rental clubs for use by guests, and properly clean and store them after use.
- Set up, monitor and maintain driving range operations (once range is up and running).
- Document any golf cart or equipment damage and any other issues relating to golf shop.
- Assists in the closing of all operational facilities, including cash handling and reporting.
- Assist with the delivery of any scheduled club competition, event, or corporate day.
- Takes used golf carts from return area to wash, clean and store in car barn for recharging of batteries.
- Record any lost and found items.
- Perform preventive maintenance duties such as washing windows, trash detail and minor maintenance and repair of golf equipment.
- Assists in enforcing facility rules and regulations regarding parking, equipment and golf facility usage.
- Provides general information to the public regarding fees, facility reservations, golf course regulations and procedures.
- Notify the Golf Services Manager of any injuries, accidents, property damage or other problems at the golf course.
- Must assist in the repairing and building golf clubs, including re grips and re shafting
- Conduct Junior coaching, including group sessions in line with the Golf Clubs Junior Program, when deemed suitable by the Golf Services Manager
- Conduct 1 on 1 coaching sessions when deemed suitable by the Golf Services Manager
- Conduct club fitting experiences with members when deemed suitable by the Golf Services Manager
- Assist in any sprig-bar or bar operations as required
- Performs any other duties as and when necessary or directed by the Golf Services Manager or General Manager
Professional Prerequisites:
- Continual participation in the NZPGA Academy
- Must have a good knowledge in the game of golf.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transport options.

Education:
High School or Diploma. Knowledge of working with point-of-sale system, motor vehicles, ball washer and powered equipment such as leaf blowers, lawn mowers etc.
Experience:
Previous experience in similar role in a hospitality environment or Golf Course.
