Golf carts are a lot of fun to drive round the course, but Australian cricket all-rounder Glenn Maxwell hits the headlines recently came a cropper after falling off the back of one.
Maxwell was riding on a cart after a round of golf ahead of their contest against the defending champions in Ahmedabad at thew weekend, when he fell off the back.
Head coach, Andrew McDonald, said he expects Maxwell to make a full recovery.
“He’s doing fine, he’ll start some light exercises today and we feel as though it will be a reasonably straightforward return to play protocol,” McDonald said.
“I suppose the fortunate part was there was no other injury sustained, which could have been a lot worse than it is. I think it rattled everyone to be fair once it came to the conclusion there was a concussion and he was going to miss a game.
“There was nothing untoward in the behaviour throughout the day, it was a clearcut accident. Unfortunately it’s compromised what we are doing as a team.”
While it wasn’t a serious accident, it does highlight the fact that accidents can happen. And golf patrons should always be reminded to use golf carts with due care and attention.
