
The Club Development Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the growth and sustainability of golf clubs across the Harbour Region. This position will focus on building club capability, fostering talent, coordinating competitions, and ensuring a strong connection between clubs and North Golf Association initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Club Capability Support
- Work closely with clubs across the Harbour Region to enhance governance, operations, and member engagement.
- Provide tailored support to clubs to develop strategic plans that align with the North Golf Association’s objectives.
- Deliver advice and assistance to clubs on funding opportunities, including guidance on contestable funding applications.
- Act as a central point of contact to address club queries and support the implementation of best practices.
Representative Golf & Talent Development
- Support the Harbour Match Committee to manage and deliver representative golf initiatives.
- Assist with the planning and execution of the Talent Connection Programme to identify and nurture emerging golf talent in the Harbour Region.
- Collaborate with regional coaches and clubs to create clear pathways for junior and senior golfers aiming for regional and national representation.
- Support the development and implementation of the She Loves Golf program to promote participation and engagement among women and girls in golf.
Event & Competition Management
- Oversee the successful delivery of Pennants and Interclub competitions across the Harbour Region, ensuring fair and efficient scheduling, administration, and communication.
- Manage tournaments and Harbour Men’s and Women’s Match Committees, providing guidance and operational support for all events.
- Maintain accurate records of results and ensure compliance with competition regulations and guidelines.
Tournaments & Events
- Plan, organise, and deliver regional tournaments that cater to golfers of all abilities, fostering participation and competition.
- Collaborate with clubs to enhance the quality and visibility of key tournaments in the Harbour Region.
- Ensure all events are conducted in line with health and safety guidelines and promote inclusivity.
Key Relationships
- Internal: North Golf Association Board, Match Committees, Representative Team Managers.
- External: Golf Club Managers, Committees, Coaches, Volunteers, Golf New Zealand, Regional Development Officers, and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain close collaboration with the Executive Officer (EO) at North Golf to align efforts and ensure effective delivery of development initiatives.
Skills and Attributes
Essential Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Organisational and time management skills to coordinate multiple projects and events simultaneously.
- Knowledge of golf operations, tournament structures, and club management best practices.
Desirable Attributes:
- Passion for golf and a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing clubs and players in the region.
- Experience working in sport development or a similar role.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with North Golf Association objectives.
Additional Information
- The role requires flexibility, including evening and weekend work to attend events, tournaments, and meetings as necessary.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required, as travel within the Harbour Region is a key part of the role
