She’s a huge country fan, loves being behind the camera, and always strives for a great experience for visitors, this week we had a chat with Tara Iti Golf Club Member Services Assistant Manager, Katie Eagle.
What’s your job, where do you work and how long have you been there?
I am the Member Services Assistant Manager at Tara Iti Golf Club, where I’ve had the privilege of working for the past four years. It’s truly a special environment — what we fondly refer to as the Tara Iti Whānau. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities it has provided and for the amazing people I’ve met along the way. Currently, I’m on a work sabbatical in Melbourne, where I’ve been fortunate to join Cathedral Lodge & Golf Club. It’s an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to challenging myself and broadening my knowledge within such a beautiful, country-style club.
What inspired you to pursue a career in Golf and what’s a typical day like?
Surprisingly, I knew very little about golf before entering the industry. However, I’ve always enjoyed creating, coordinating and organising, and I thrive in people-focused environments. Every day in my role is different, which keeps the work both fun and engaging.
What are the biggest challenges you face in your role?
I embrace all challenges with a positive mindset, continually striving to exceed expectations and deliver memorable experiences for members and guests alike.
What trends or changes do you see shaping the future of the golf industry?
I had the pleasure of being invited to the launch of Connecting Women in Golf, an initiative led by the WPGA Tour of Australasia, the PGA, and Golf Australia. The name truly says it all — it’s about fostering an inclusive and welcoming space where everyone in the industry, regardless of their role or background, can feel a genuine sense of belonging. The golf industry is evolving beyond just the sport itself; it’s becoming a broader, more immersive experience the offers opportunities for everyone to be a part of.
If you weren’t working in golf, what would you be doing?
Photography has always been a passion and I feel most at home behind the camera. While landscape photography is where my eye naturally draws me, I’ve also had the opportunity to photograph several golfing events — which I thoroughly enjoyed.
If you could play a round of golf with three people dead or alive, who would they be and why?
Morgan Wallen — I’ve heard he’s a golf fan, and as one of the biggest country music fans myself, it sounds like a win-win.
Shardae Bulkeley — Not only a great friend but also the best personal coach I could ask for. I’d definitely need her by my side to help with my swing!
My Grandad — I’d really enjoy seeing him back in full form, playing a round on the course like the sportsman he used to be.
What’s your handicap?
No official handicap, just a high score and lots of enthusiasm!
Ever had a hole in one?
I have not been lucky enough to make an ace myself, but I’m always happy to celebrate those that do!
