On the Whangaparoa Peninsula, the director and owner of the Gulf Harbour Country Club have disappeared without providing any information regarding when or if they will make good on their debt.
Some club members are making the most of their thousands in membership fees by using the course despite its unannounced shutdown.
he golf course was diligently maintained by Ryan Taylor for 15 years, putting it on the international stage and securing it the opportunity to host the New Zealand PGA Championship early in 2023.
Taylor said he was owed about $25,000, with no pay for his final days of work, no notice period, and a lot of annual leave backed up.
And he said what he was owed was just the tip of the iceberg.
