With Whangaparoa Golf Club‘s valued Superintendent leaving the area for pastures new, the Management Committee seek an experienced, energetic and well qualified Course Superintendent (CS) to lead a capable grounds team in building on existing course improvements and further developing our course within our supportive working environment. The CS reports directly to the Management Committee and will provide leadership in managing all assigned responsibilities of the club’s course maintenance and development at an effective pace underpinned by our practical five year WGC Strategic Plan. 

The core purpose of this senior role is to maintain and develop our course in the best possible condition for the maximum number of members for the maximum number of days each year.

Naturally, responsibilities encompass:

  1. Course Maintenance. 
  2. Course Development.
  3. Management of Staff.
  4. Management of equipment and resources. 
  5. Present and maintain an accurate budget.
  6. Positive engagement with member volunteers.
  7. Planned and agreed calendar of maintenance and projects 

Qualifications and Skills

  • A relevant Golf Course Turf Maintenance Qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in golf course maintenance, with notable supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Secure knowledge of turf-grass management practices, approved experience in chemical handling and workplace health and safety, together with practical knowledge of management of irrigation systems and pest/disease control. 
  • Experience with golf course maintenance equipment operation and safe usage procedures.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team within a positive work environment.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Personal enthusiasm and collaborative interpersonal skills illustrative of commitment to securing quality golf provision within a club membership environment.
  • Sound financial and budgeting skills.

Salary

A very attractive salary alongside benefits including an incentive scheme, club membership and Kiwi saver contributions will be available to the outstanding candidate we seek.
