Akarana Golf Club is seeking an exceptional Golf Operations Manager to join our team. Known as the friendly Club, Akarana offers members and visitors a warm and inviting golfing experience.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Golf Operations Manager, along with their team, is responsible for the effective management and promotion of all Akarana golf services. With accountability for all daily golf operations, this is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual, with a passion for golf to make a significant contribution.

This role is a key customer facing position and to be successful you will be confident leading events and promoting the Club both internally to members and externally to the wider golfing community. 

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • Managing the overall golf operations of the Club and ensuring members, sponsors and guests receive a superior golfing experience.
  • Ensuring the effective management of all tee bookings and the overall operation of the driving range and practice facilities.
  • Leading the golf operations team, including ensuring the effective running of the pro shop and liaison with Club partners in respect of all golf matters.
  • Promoting and delivering all golf programmes at the Club with a particular focus on junior golf development.
  • Building, maintaining and fostering productive relationships with sponsors and corporates undertaking marketing and promotions activities for the club.
  • Managing the golf operations budget to maximise revenue generation through identifying and implementing opportunities for improved products and services.
  • Being a key part of the AGC team, supporting the General Manager and other senior staff as and when required.

Skills and Experience 

  • Proven success and experience in a customer facing role, preferably in golf, with demonstrated competence in managing and running competitions and events. 
  • Prior experience successfully leading a team is strongly desirable, including experience scheduling hours, staff training and monitoring and addressing performance. 
  • Demonstrated superior communication skills, including across all social media platforms.  
  • Skills and experience with computerized Vend POS, Dot Golf and Xero is desirable.
  • Strong financial management skills, cost and schedule management as well as status reporting.
  • Prior experience managing Health and Safety standards including in an operations role.

  • Confident and comfortable when public speaking and representing the club.
  • Reliable and dependable, a self-starter.
  • A strong team player, willing to respond to changing priorities with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude.
