
The Golf Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the front-of-house Golf Retail & Online Shop and manages all golf and social events at Taupo Golf Club. This is a hands-on role, requiring active involvement in the setup and execution of weekly member competitions, visitor bookings, and corporate or charity golf events.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team leader with strong customer-focused, business, and organizational skills, combined with a passion and knowledge of golf.
Core Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer experiences for members and green-fee visitors to ensure a high-quality golfing experience.
- Address and resolve guest, member, and event-related inquiries or complaints promptly and effectively.
- Actively participate in events and tournaments to maintain visibility and approachability.
Team Leadership and Operations
- Lead and manage the Pro Shop team, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to safeguard inventory, assets, and resources.
- Oversee all digital and online platforms, including event management systems and social media channels, to promote activities and engage with the community.
Merchandising and Revenue
- Manage inventory and merchandising in the Pro Shop to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Ensure the shop displays are appealing and reflect current trends and customer preferences.
Event Management
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all golf-related events, including corporate and charity tournaments.
- Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure a seamless experience for all event attendees.
Facility and Equipment Oversight
- Supervise the maintenance and operations of the golf cart fleet, driving range, and associated equipment.
- Work closely with Golf Course Attendants and other department heads to ensure efficient inter-departmental coordination.
Employee Development
- Empower staff to deliver excellent customer service by providing training, setting clear expectations, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Address performance issues constructively and celebrate achievements.
Communication
- Maintain timely and effective communication in line with the club’s communications plan.
- Review guest feedback with employees and implement corrective actions to improve service delivery.
Operational Excellence
- Approve and manage supply orders for golf operations.
- Regularly evaluate and enhance operational performance to maintain high standards of service.
Key Qualifications
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Exceptional customer service skills; approachable, friendly, and professional demeanour.
- Self-motivated with a strong aptitude for promotion and marketing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
