An exciting opportunity is now available at The Hills Golf Club for a Head Gardener to join us in our piece of paradise.
The Hills is looking for a hands on, enthusiastic and driven Head Gardener to join our team in one of the most beautiful environments in the world. This role will have overall responsibility for the maintenance of the gardens for the properties that are situated within The Hills Golf Club.
In particular, The Lodge boasts an award winning landscaped garden that is a joy to maintain and where there will always be scope to bring your ideas and creativity to the Family. You will have confidence in your decision making and will lead a small team who are truly excited about keeping this garden in its award winning condition.
Skills include:
- Excellent communication skills
- An in-depth knowledge of planting schedules
- A desire to be a thought leader in the gardening space and a willingness to get stuck in
- An awareness of machinery, automation, and systems to drive efficiency
- A desire to enhance the outstanding natural beauty of The Hills through sympathetic landscaping
- The ability to prepare and deliver a maintenance schedule for all gardens
- Strong financial acumen to help build breakeven spreadsheets and budgeting and cost analysis
- Being able to make quick and autonomous decisions daily
- Some skills in hard landscaping
- Being able to give oversight to the kitchen garden
You will be part of the bigger team at The Hills where no two days are the same and sometimes it’s hard to believe how privileged we are to be here. You will be experienced in the growing conditions of the Whakatipu Basin would be preferred.
