Wainuiomata Golf Club is a highly regarded par 72, 18 hole golf course situated in bush like surroundings approximately 20minutes from the Wellington CBD.
We are currently looking for someone to join our small and dedicated ground staff team. We are looking to employ either a labourer or nearly or qualified person to assist in the day-to-day maintenance and continued development of the course.
You will be working closely with the greens superintendent in providing a great golfing experience to our members and guests, and on projects to improve the golf course, practice areas, clubhouse surrounds, general areas and gardens.
The position includes all aspects of turf and grounds maintenance:
- Mowing greens, tees, fairways and the rough
- Maintaining bunkers
- Changing holes
- Chemical and fertiliser application
- Machinery maintenance
- Operating and repairing the irrigation system
- Tree work, general labouring and much more.
You will have the ability to work as part of the small team as well as independently, and possess a strong work ethic, with a positive can-do attitude. Knowledge and experience in turf management and an affinity with operating and maintaining machinery is advantageous. All relevant training will be provided along with required PPE.
The hours of work are 7am to 3pm during the summer and 7.30am to 3.30pm in the winter with rostered weekend work and extra weekend work through the interclub season or as required.
Applicants should:
- Be physically fit
- Hold a full and current driver’s licence with their own transport
- Not mind working in all types of weather
- A good understanding of health and safety practices
- Ideally have an interest in golf and the set-up of golf courses.
