Mollie Marcoux Samaan 2 NZ Golf Business

LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan will step down in January after a year of notable achievements and challenges in women’s professional golf.

The 2024 season saw record-breaking prize purses and Nelly Korda’s rise to global stardom. However, it was also marked by moments of discontent among players and a logistical controversy at the Solheim Cup in September.

According to lpga.com, Liz Moore, the LPGA’s chief legal officer, will step in as interim commissioner while the organisation searches for a permanent replacement.

“I thank Chairman John Veihmeyer and the rest of the LPGA Board for trusting me to serve as the ninth Commissioner of the LPGA,” Marcoux Samaan said in a statement. “In this role, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a remarkable community of athletes, teachers, partners, tournament operators, industry colleagues, media, fans, volunteers, and staff who share a deep commitment to growing the LPGA and using the organisation’s unique platform to empower and advance women and girls.
