American golf club Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington has introduced autonomous delivery robots that bring drinks and snacks directly to players on the fairways, a first in the world of golf.

The New York facility has enabled smart robotic servers capable of navigating the course independently, allowing golfers to order food and refreshments without interrupting their game. This cutting-edge system represents one of the earliest implementations of such technology in the golfing industry worldwide.

These autonomous servers were unveiled recently by North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and Kelley Brooke, the facility’s incoming director, representing just one element of an ambitious US$3 million renovation strategy. The improvements aim to revitalise the town-owned course, boost financial performance, and cultivate a younger demographic of players.

Brooke, recognised as the 2018 LPGA Professional of the Year, highlighted during the announcement how contemporary golf culture is evolving, particularly with technological innovations designed to appeal to younger generations of players.

Orders are placed through a mobile app and fulfilled quietly and seamlessly. This innovation comes as robotic mowers have become the latest trend at golf venues in New Zealand.
