The Country Club of Rochester and Oak Hill Country Club

The Country Club of Rochester and Oak Hill Country Club’s West Course have been selected to co-host the 2028 Junior PGA Championships, bringing one of junior golf’s major events to upstate New York.

The 52nd edition of the Championships will feature 312 players—156 girls and 156 boys—competing in a four-day, 72-hole stroke play format. The event is open to amateur golfers no older than 18 who qualify through PGA of America Section Championships or receive exemptions.

“We are looking forward to bringing the 2028 Junior PGA Championships to these two historic New York courses with longstanding ties to the PGA of America,” said PGA of America President Don Rea Jr. “Both golf courses are classic designs by Donald Ross, and I know they will be a great test for the top junior golfers.”

The Junior PGA Championships have launched the careers of many golf stars. Past participants in the Boys division include Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas, while the Girls division has featured future champions like Inbee Park, Lexi Thompson, and Rose Zhang.

The Country Club of Rochester, dating back to 1895, features a Donald Ross-designed course that has hosted multiple U.S. Women’s Opens. Legendary golfer Walter Hagen, a founding member of the PGA of America, began his career as a caddie at the club before becoming its Head Golf Professional.

“It is an honor to serve as a host to the PGA of America, particularly for a tournament involving junior golfers,” said Country Club of Rochester President Paul Roland. “We are very proud of our great golf course and our club’s long history.”

Oak Hill Country Club’s West Course, designed by Donald Ross in 1926, complements the club’s famous East Course, which has hosted four PGA Championships and the 1995 Ryder Cup. The West Course is described as “championship in its own right” with its rolling terrain, elevated greens, and majestic oaks.

Visit Rochester, Monroe County’s official tourism promotion agency, helped bring the event to the area. The championships are expected to boost tourism and showcase Rochester as a premier golf destination.

The next Junior PGA Championships will be held July 29-August 1, 2025, at Purdue University’s Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana.
