Waipu Golf Club

Waipu Golf Club is excited to welcome a motivated and enthusiastic Greenkeeper to join our close-knit and passionate course team. We are looking for either a newly qualified Greenkeeper, someone starting their career in turf management, or an individual looking to begin a career in golf course maintenance.

Located in the stunning Bream Bay, Northland, Waipu Golf Club offers a unique working environment surrounded by spectacular coastal views and a strong sense of community. Our club is committed to continual improvement, with a significant $1.4 million investment in irrigation and course upgrades completed in 2022. This investment has allowed us to irrigate all 18 fairways and continue developing high-quality playing surfaces for our members and visitors.

Since the completion of the irrigation upgrade, Waipu Golf Club has continued its commitment to improving the course through an ongoing programme of green and tee redevelopment projects. This includes rebuilding and enhancing key playing surfaces, improving surrounds, and creating a more sustainable and enjoyable golf course for the future. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved in these exciting projects and see first-hand the transformation and continued development of the course.

The successful applicant will be:

·         Passionate about golf course presentation, turf management, and working outdoors.

·         Keen to learn and develop their knowledge and skills within the turf industry.

·         Reliable, hardworking, and physically fit.

·         Able to work as part of a team while also taking ownership of individual tasks.

·         Looking to build a long-term career in golf course maintenance.

·         Positive, motivated, and willing to take on new challenges.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have:

·         A qualification in turf management, horticulture, or a related field, or a strong interest and willingness to learn the fundamentals of greenkeeping.

·         Previous experience working on a golf course, sports turf, landscaping, or a similar outdoor environment is preferred but not essential.

·         A willingness to continue learning and develop skills across all aspects of golf course maintenance.

·         Growsafe certification preferred, or a willingness to complete the required training for safe chemical application.

·         A current driver’s licence.

·         The ability to work well within a team environment and complete tasks independently when required.

·         A strong work ethic, good attention to detail, and pride in producing high-quality results.

·         A willingness to work rostered weekends as part of the golf course maintenance team. Weekend work is shared across the team to ensure the course is maintained to a high standard for member play, competitions, and events.

At Waipu Golf Club, you will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team, gain valuable hands-on experience, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of one of Northland’s most picturesque golf courses.

It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, develop their skills, and become part of a team that takes pride in delivering an exceptional golf course, so if you are a passionate and motivated individual looking to begin or take the next step in your greenkeeping career, we would love to hear from you.
