Te Arai Links‘ South Course designed by Coore & Crenshaw opened October 2022 and recently voted at #79 on the latest Golf Magazine Top 100 Courses in the World List. The North Course designed by Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf, also opened in October 2023.

The courses are sand based and comprised of fine fescue. We strive for the courses to play like a true links course so that the rambunctious shapes and slopes can be used as intended.

About this role

Under the guidance of our experienced Superintendents, this role will focus on providing the best experience possible for our members and guests, by ensuring the course plays exceptionally well through detailed course maintenance including:

  • Safely operate equipment and accessories as trained and assigned including, but not limited to, greens mowers, rotary mowers, fly mowers, gang mowers, tri-plex mowers, vertical mowers, line trimmers, edgers, utility vehicles, back-pack blowers, portable pumps, aerifiers, spikers, mechanical top dressers, sod cutters, mechanical bunker rakes, tractors, sweepers, blades, loaders, backhoes, trenchers, chain saws, and miscellaneous hand tools.
  • Properly care for assigned equipment by inspecting machinery before and after each use, cleaning machinery after each use, making necessary minor adjustments to equipment and reporting machinery/equipment problems to the mechanic.
  • Maintain maintenance and fluid use logs (gas and oil) on assigned equipment.
  • Perform daily maintenance tasks on the golf course and grounds as well as the maintenance facility and clubhouse as assigned and directed. Duties may include, but not limited to, loading and unloading materials, trimming trees, removing cuttings, laying sod, hand raking bunkers, drainage installation and repair, and repairing ball marks and filling divots.
  • Maintain plant nursery plants and native plants throughout the property. Plant cultivation and propagation of native species. 
  • Perform golf course service and set up work as directed.

About you

You will be a proactive and reliable individual, who is able to work autonomously as well as in a team. Other experience and attributes that would be beneficial to your success include:

  • Previous experience in high-end resorts will be looked on favourably. 
  • Minimum of three years greenkeeping experience required.
  • Horticulture qualifications desirable, not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate golf course equipment. 
  • Ability to self-manage and maintain strong levels of productivity with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, and able to manage and maintain workflow accordingly.
  • Ability to use a variety of machinery – Toro and John Deere predominantly used.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
  • See players on the golf course, and to follow the flight of golf balls.
  • Perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Retrieve, read and interpret information from technical sources.
  • Able to lift equipment up to 20kg.
  • Full Driver’s License.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays.

The rate for this position will be $30 per hour.

This role will cover 32 hours per week as a minimum.
