A fire tore through the restaurant at Te Arai Links Sunday morning, leaving the building destroyed.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) dispatched multiple crews to the scene following reports of a structure fire shortly after 10am. A spokesperson confirmed the blaze had spread throughout the building and into the roof.
Diners who had gathered for breakfast were evacuated before the fire took hold. “The fire started at the back of the building so we had enough time to evacuate the people who were there for breakfast,” a golf course spokesperson said. No injuries were reported.
The building was left destroyed by the blaze.
